Poliomyelitis in the City of Córdoba

In this article we analyze the circulation and appropriation of the medical knowledge regarding the study of nosology and epidemiology of poliomyelitis between 1943 and 1953 in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. It focuses on the case of the research made by doctors of the National University of Córdoba. The historical period selected is based on the amount of articles published in medical journals of Córdoba after the emergence of the epidemic of this disease. The study of these articles allows us to show the flow of international medical knowledge in Argentina, the appropriation of this knowledge made by the medical circle in Córdoba and the changes that were made in the country in relation to scientific research on polio. Qualitative methodology was used based on the analysis of articles published in journals of the National University of Córdoba.Downloads
